San Jorge Eco-Lodge offers a variety of green attributes as detailed below. In order to appear on our site, a hotel must possess at least 10 green attributes, so this puts San Jorge Eco-Lodge in good company. The more green features a hotel has, the higher the green leaf rating up to a maximum of seven green leaves. The hotel is built of materials exclusively from the region, in the local style. And the soaps are biodegradable and locally made.
Some of the other features we liked about San Jorge Eco-lodge is that a new scientific interpretation center is in the planning stages, they have an organic garden, a recycling program for metal, paper, plastic and glass and they use biodegradable soaps and shampoos made locally and biodegradable clothes detergent and biodegradable dishwashing detergent.
Be sure to take the hikes on the trails at San Jorge Botanical Reserve/Quito. The maps and signage are very helpful and the trails very enjoyable. The waterfall/canyon trail is especially beautiful, but the other trail gives a good contrast in habitat for birders. Everything was fantastic!

This website is for you and your fellow green travelers. You can make it more useful by sharing your travel experiences at the different environmentally friendly hotels or eco-lodges you stay in. The more comments and reviews we have on the hotels in the database, the more you and other environmentally conscious travelers have to go on for making decisions.
When you review a hotel, the information we are looking for is what your experience was; how you felt about what you saw and did in regards to the hotel. Did you notice any environmentally sensitive steps taken that aren't covered by either the attributes list or the hotel's website? For example, were the shower curtains fabric rather than plastic, the wastebasket unlined, or did the room smell fresh without having been perfumed? Does the housekeeping staff honor the towel/sheet program? Are Styrofoam products offered at any food establishments connected to the environmentally friendly hotel? We want the good and the bad so other green travelers can make informed decisions.
There are lots of little things that go into making a great experience, and lots of little things that go into making a great green experience. That's what we are looking for in the reviews we receive. All comments and submissions become the property of HealthyStays.com, LLC and may be published.
