Environmentally, the hotel is a mixed bag. Cotton sheets and towels were comfortable, but only towels are given the chance of being reused (not sheets). All amenities were individual, based on what we saw in our friends' rooms -- we didn't get any amenities. We loved the glass shower wall instead of a curtain.
There was a tea/coffee station in the room and the teas were organic with silk bags. Porcelain mugs were perfect for drinking tea from in the cool evenings. Some of the light bulbs were CFL and some incandescent; we didn't know if that was by design or if they were part-way through changing them. Our room had an energy management system to keep the room from being an extreme temperature when we weren't around. And the insulated window curtains not only kept us warm on the cold night but also let us sleep in the next morning.
The wastebasket in the room was durable but they lined it anyway. We don't get why hotels line most wastebaskets, but do better understand wicker baskets getting lined, especially in the bathroom or near the coffee pot.
To finish off the luxury of the room we had a large flat screen TV and a CD alarm clock. We had a great time and look forward to returning for another retreat.

This website is for you and your fellow green travelers. You can make it more useful by sharing your travel experiences at the different environmentally friendly hotels or eco-lodges you stay in. The more comments and reviews we have on the hotels in the database, the more you and other environmentally conscious travelers have to go on for making decisions.
When you review a hotel, the information we are looking for is what your experience was; how you felt about what you saw and did in regards to the hotel. Did you notice any environmentally sensitive steps taken that aren't covered by either the attributes list or the hotel's website? For example, were the shower curtains fabric rather than plastic, the wastebasket unlined, or did the room smell fresh without having been perfumed? Does the housekeeping staff honor the towel/sheet program? Are Styrofoam products offered at any food establishments connected to the environmentally friendly hotel? We want the good and the bad so other green travelers can make informed decisions.
There are lots of little things that go into making a great experience, and lots of little things that go into making a great green experience. That's what we are looking for in the reviews we receive. All comments and submissions become the property of HealthyStays.com, LLC and may be published.
