The main lodge has a wonderful look and feel, and the additions reflect the grandness of the lodge very well. Guests rock before huge walk-in fireplaces that roar winter nights, listening to the live music in the great hall. What a welcome that offers.

The first thing I noticed upon entering my room was that the windows open, something I have noticed fewer hotels have all the time. The lamps sported CFLs, the wastebaskets were unlined, the shower curtain was made of fabric -- all great green touches. There was also a recycling bin in the room and glasses that were replaced by housekeeping instead of being sanitized in the room (as seen on Fox News Atlanta). And the increasingly popular linen reuse program was offered too.

The dining options were delicious. I had a wonderful salad for dinner that the waitress proudly told me came from vegetables grown right in the area. Breakfast was from a buffet where the food was kept fresh and hot, with delicious options of cereals, meats, eggs, potatoes, and delicate pastries. I was quite content with the food I had while at the resort.

Clearly the owners and managers of the Grove Park Inn care about the environment, from beginning to end.

Review this hotel

This website is for you and your fellow green travelers. You can make it more useful by sharing your travel experiences at the different environmentally friendly hotels or eco-lodges you stay in. The more comments and reviews we have on the hotels in the database, the more you and other environmentally conscious travelers have to go on for making decisions.

When you review a hotel, the information we are looking for is what your experience was; how you felt about what you saw and did in regards to the hotel. Did you notice any environmentally sensitive steps taken that aren't covered by either the attributes list or the hotel's website? For example, were the shower curtains fabric rather than plastic, the wastebasket unlined, or did the room smell fresh without having been perfumed? Does the housekeeping staff honor the towel/sheet program? Are Styrofoam products offered at any food establishments connected to the environmentally friendly hotel? We want the good and the bad so other green travelers can make informed decisions.

There are lots of little things that go into making a great experience, and lots of little things that go into making a great green experience. That's what we are looking for in the reviews we receive. All comments and submissions become the property of, LLC and may be published.
