It seems there are more green initiatives here than the last time I stayed, and there are still more things they can do. I'd like to see their fresh air initiatives include unlined waste baskets and removing the vinyl shower curtain liner -- plastic bags and vinyl pollute the air with VOCs, and the plastic bags contribute non-decomposing materials to landfills.
Their bathroom amenities are individual bottles and bars. We would have loved to have had bulk-dispensed amenities of an even higher quality than provided. Maybe next time.
Our guestroom windows opened and we had fresh flowers in our room. The compact fluorescent bulbs are magnetic ballasts so "glow-up" slowly -- but at least they are saving energy.
What a treat to have glasses and mugs in our rooms instead of disposable items.
And the curtains were light blocking so we could sleep past when the sun rose. Since we'd been traveling awhile and were tired, that was a blessing.
Though they don't talk about it, the food served in their dining rooms is organic and locally grown, at least when possible. Food service here was fantastic!
This website is for you and your fellow green travelers. You can make it more useful by sharing your travel experiences at the different environmentally friendly hotels or eco-lodges you stay in. The more comments and reviews we have on the hotels in the database, the more you and other environmentally conscious travelers have to go on for making decisions.
When you review a hotel, the information we are looking for is what your experience was; how you felt about what you saw and did in regards to the hotel. Did you notice any environmentally sensitive steps taken that aren't covered by either the attributes list or the hotel's website? For example, were the shower curtains fabric rather than plastic, the wastebasket unlined, or did the room smell fresh without having been perfumed? Does the housekeeping staff honor the towel/sheet program? Are Styrofoam products offered at any food establishments connected to the environmentally friendly hotel? We want the good and the bad so other green travelers can make informed decisions.
There are lots of little things that go into making a great experience, and lots of little things that go into making a great green experience. That's what we are looking for in the reviews we receive. All comments and submissions become the property of HealthyStays.com, LLC and may be published.
