Comments:
This hotel has a green procurement program, striving to get environmentally friendly, recycled and recyclable products as possible. The first big energy savings step taken here was to unplug guestroom mini-fridges.

Their face and hand bar are scent free (as of April 2007).

Review:
The hotel has recently been renovated and looks great. The Sleep-by-number beds give people the chance to create the firmness or softness they want. And the feather duvets add a wonderful comfort to the bed. The rooms are well appointed and comfortable.

Lighting was ample, with desk and reading lights where you'd want them. But, the bulbs were regular incandescent bulbs rather than compact fluorescent. My entry way bulb did have a compact fluorescent, but it seems to me more were in order.

The wastebaskets were lined with plastic bags, even though they were durable plastic and could have easily been cleaned as needed. Plastic bag liners add more to the landfills than is necessary, and contributes to the problem of trash not decomposing.

The bathroom was comfortable and well lit. The shower curtains were fabric rather than vinyl, which off-gasses and contributes to our dependence on fossil fuels.

One problem I had with the hotel was the smell of their cleaning materials. My room had a heavy scent that bothered me for hours, until either it dissapated or I became numb to it. Another problem was the noisy aspect of the fan on the heater/air conditioner unit; each time it kicked on during the night it roused me from sleep slightly.

The hotel has a policy of changing sheets and towels every three days, unless requested sooner. I really like that approach to a sheet/towel re-use program.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, being able to suggest dining options for me, providing a bandaid, and offering me coffee when I was waiting for my room which wasn't quite ready when I checked in.

What a wonderfully friendly staff! Everyone greeted me, and my associates, with a smile; and the task at hand was done by whomever was available, not just the person whose job it was to do. Great service!!

I was sorely disappointed by housekeeping; they not only changed my towels when I rehung them, but they also took my soap and shampoo each day. What a terrible waste! Some days my trash was taken, but not others; some days my complementary water was restocked, but not others. Nice women, but not attentive to my room.

The food here was fantastic. I was attending a conference and expected "conference food", and was delighted to not get it; we had delicious and fresh-tasting food. Great cookies, tasty entrees, yummy salads. jw, April 2007
