Water conservation can be can be attained through xeric landscaping, low-flush toilets, low-flow showers and sinks, and tower and sheet re-use programs. If your community allows, gray water can be used to irrigate your landscape, saving processed water for human consumption, and reducing your water and sewer bills.

Energy conservation can be attained through replacing burned-out incandescent bulbs with compact fluorescent bulbs, the technology of which has improved dramatically through the years. Moderating your thermostat temperatures so that they are cooler in the winter and warmer in the summer, will save energy and money. Adopting a towel/sheet re-use program will save energy too. Turning out lights that aren't being used and adjusting the temperature of unoccupied guestrooms will also save money and energy.
